What is the ratio in your relationship of negative to positive expressions. How grateful are you for your beloved? And, how often do you express your gratitude? Expressions of gratitude are a relationship skill that adds to the underlying emotional strength of any relationship. Dr. John Gottman has spent a lifetime studying relationship and he has come up with a positivity ratio of 5 to 1, five positive to 1 negative. Gottman says positivity is an indicator of relationship health. What is the positivity ratio in your relationship? Are you willing to focus on positivity, its impact, in your relationships for a week or even for a day?
