In her news letter this morning Sobonfu Some writes of the importance of "expanding our awareness and being an active participant in ones own life." How true this is and how it speaks to a couple of important aspects of working with a coach, for individuals and teams alike. There is power in expanding awareness.

When you let new information in, allow it you influence you, a shift always happens. CRR Global in their systems/team coaching curriculum (ORSC), call this "revealing the system to itself." A new awareness pops and there is a shift, a change that occurs on that team or partnership that often is a surprise to both the team and the coach. The results are similar working with individuals on a particular issue or situation. I have see this happen time and time again and marvel at the impact every time, it really makes the coaches job seem effortless. And, she must be alert for the shift.
The second part, "being an active participant in ones own life," is like a wake up call for me to remember and reaffirm that I am co-creating my life. I am a participant crafting how I want to be with and respond to ever changing experiences that happen in, through, and around me. This participation is essential for me to create my life consciously, it calls for ownership and authority.
